Name of Assignment: Atom Project Subject: Chemistry Facilitator/Teacher: Ms.S
Description of Work/Assignment: We were supposed to create a model of an atom of an element that we drew from a box. We had to accurately put the electrons, protons, and neutrons and add a card that describes it.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? This assignment addresses the self-direction skill because we had about a month and a half to work on it but no time in class, it was all on our own.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? I'm most proud of the metal work on this assignment because, to prevent the bells from falling off, I used wire and wrapped it around the rings and it took a lot of time and a little bit of blood, sweat, and tears.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? I improved on my 21st skills with my self-directional skills because we had to do this all on our own which inspired me not to wait until the last minute which would end up being problematic.
What was most difficult about completing this task? The most difficult part of completing this assignment is getting the motivation to do it, once I could get over my procrastination I actually had a lot of fun wiring bells onto rings.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different? If I were to do this again I would have made the rings spread out rather than flat because then you would be able to see it better.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? This relates to what I have learned about atoms and electron configuration.
How can you apply this to future learning? I'm taking this as a lesson to start doing projects when they are assigned and setting achievable goals so I finish things on time and quality as well.
